Message: Carl Wooten received a Ph. D. degree in organic chemistry from the University of North Carolina in 1950. Subsequently, he spent 37 years with the Chemical Division (now the Eastman Chemical Company) of the Eastman Kodak Company involved in polymer research. He retired as Director of Polymer Research in 1986. Currently, he serves as an adjunct professor in the chemistry department of the University of North Carolina. Other professional and community activities have included chairman of the ACS Polymer Division (POLY), chairman of the Gordon Research Conference on polymers, and chairman of the Kingsport Regional Planning Commission. Dr. Wooten has been consulting with ACS members about their careers since 1996.
