AN INVITATION to JOIN the POLYMER Division of the American Chemical Society
We invite you to participate in the many activities and benefits of The Division of Polymer Chemistry - one of the largest and most active non-profit, international groups devoted to the advancement of Polymer Science.
Play the videos below and listen to insights from Leaders in the Division
Although all of the member benefits listed below are very important, your membership in POLY keeps the Division alive and functional - without your support, POLY would not be able to provide:

Membership benefits and other information about the Polymer Division include:
How Many Polymer Scientists are there at National Meetings?
Application to Join the Division - Electronic form for joining the Division as a Member, Affiliate or Student.
-----------------------------------------
POLYMER PREPRINTS - no longer published starting in 2013 and replaced with Graphical Abstracts
Past (archived) preprints are still available
TWO volumes per year (prior to 2013) of 600-800 pages - the most widely circulated polymer journal in the world which contains the papers given at the Division Sessions at the National ACS Meetings. For more information, see the Polymer Preprints page.
Division members and affiliates receive access to the Web-based version of Polymer Preprints.
(June and October) - describes the many activities of the Division and announces polymer-related scientific meetings worldwide.
The Division typically publishes 3-5 books per year of interest to polymer scientists and are available at a discount rate.
-------------------------------------------
The Division sponsors 7 to 13 symposia on new research areas at every American Chemical Society National Meeting. In addition, the Division cooperates closely with other Divisions of the American Chemical Society in arranging jointly sponsored, interdisciplinary symposia.
For more detailed information see the Sponsored Meetings page.

How Many Polymer Scientists are there at National Meetings?
At national ACS meetings, the ACS keeps track of the professional concentrations of the meeting attendees. According to the ACS data, the two topics "Polymers/Plastics" and "Materials" rank very high. In the last two national meetings (San Francisco 2006 and Chicago 2007), Organic, Pharmaceutical, and Biochemistry are the top three concentrations. Polymers/Plastics and Materials are virtually tied for the fourth and fifth places. The other popular subjects are Inorganic, Biotechnology, Physical, Analytical, and Chemical Education (in that order). In each of the last two meetings, over 1900 people indicated their professional concentrations as Polymers/Plastics. (Equal amounts of people indicated their professional concentrations as Materials, but these may be the same people.) The large turnout is a compliment to POLY's programming, which is able to consistently attract a large audience to the national meetings.
