Nanostructured Materials for Future Therapy

Call for Papers

A symposium entitled "Nanostructured Materials for Future Therapy" will be held at the 237th American Chemical Society National Meeting in Salt Lake City on March 22-26, 2009.

This symposium will address recent developments in the synthesis, fabrication, and characterization of nanostructured materials for biomedical applications. Four specific focus areas for this symposium are: (1) Novel polymeric systems with controlled cellular responses; (2) Novel nanoparticulate systems with therapeutic potential; (3) Interfacing tissues with bioactive surfaces; and (4) Innovative measurement tools.

Confirmed Invited Speakers:

(1) Novel polymeric systems with controlled cellular responses: Helen Lu: Columbia; Joel Schneider: University of Delaware; Meijer, E.W., Eindhoven University of Technology.

(2) Novel nanoparticulate systems with therapeutic potentials: Alexander V. Kabanov: University of Nebraska; Kam W Leong: Duke; Karen Wooley: University of Washington.

(3) Interfacing tissues with bioactive surfaces: Buddy D. Ratner, University of Washington, Christopher Ober: Cornell; Gabriel Lopez: University of New Mexico; Abby Morgan: Virginia Tech.

(4) Innovative measurement tools: Matthew Becker, NIST; Matt Kipper: Colorado State University; Christine Ortiz: MIT.

We cordially invite you to submit Oral or Poster presentations in research areas listed above or on related topics. The deadline for abstract/preprint submission is Oct 22.
