Polymers for Electrophotography

Call for Papers

A Symposium in the Division of Polymer Chemistry

237th American Chemical Society National Meeting

Salt Lake City, Utah.  USA

March 22-26, 2009

Electrophotography is the predominant technology used in modern printers and copiers.  Specialty polymers are critical materials in the various components of the electrophotographic process, including: photoreceptors, toners and developers, fusing systems.  With increasing speed and quality in digital color printing, the performance requirements placed on these specialty polymers presents significant challenges.  The goal of this symposium is to bring researchers from academia and industry together to discuss the challenges in the design of improved materials for digital color imaging and marking.  We cordially invite you to submit Oral or Poster presentations in areas listed below or on related topics.

A) Photoconductive and Photoactive Materials:  high performance charge transporting materials, high sensitivity photogenerating materials, abrasion resistant materials, low surface energy films and coating.

B) Toner and Developer Materials:  novel toner polymers, polymeric nano/micro-particle surface modification, charge control agents, surface modification of colorants (dyes and pigments), coating materials for developers, “green” toner materials.

C) Specialty Materials for Fusing and Transfer Subsystems:  fluoropolymers, silicones, high performance elastomers, release agents, conductive polymers.

D) Polymers for Print Media:  smart paper, surface treatment of paper, media for low energy fusing and low temperature curing of ink or toner.
