Advancing the world through polymer chemistry

It is a pleasure to invite you to submit an abstract for the 227th ACS National
Meeting Symposium entitled, "Biomacromolecule Interactions with Synthetic
Surfaces", which will be held in Anaheim, CA (March 28, 2004-April 1, 2004). This
one-day symposium is sponsored by the Division of Polymer Chemistry and will
feature two sessions, with ca. 16-20 oral presentations, bringing together
chemists with specialization in organic, physical, biological and polymer
chemistries to discuss the state-of-the-art in the understanding of the
fundamental mechanisms by which various biological macromolecules interact with
and adsorb onto synthetic substrates. The biomacromolecules may be composed of
polynucleotides, peptides, proteins, or polysaccharides. Research on cell surface
interactions would be appropriate if the focus is on the involvement of
biomacromolecular components at the molecular level. Implications of these
discussions are expected to be significant in areas broadly from marine biofouling
to biomedical implant performance.

Opportunities for oral presentations as well as posters remain; please visit the
ACS website for abstract and preprint submission,

With best regards from the co-organizers,
