1996 Biennial Meeting Industrial Research in the 21st Century
November 24-27, 1996 Red Lion Resort, Santa Barbara, California
The Polymer Division's 1996 Biennial meeting is focused on the theme, "Industrial Research in the 21st Century". Chief technical officers from leading chemical and electronics corporations, world wide, will discuss the trends and changes in industrial research as we approach the 21st century. The plenary speakers are Mr. H. Tabata, Asahi Chemical Ind.; Dr. J. A. Miller, Du Pont; Dr. J. D. Holmes, Eastman Chemicals; Dr. L. Boehm, Hoechst; Dr. T. Nitta, Matsushita Electric Ind. and Dr. W. Harris, NSF. These discussions will be coupled with state-of-the-art technical sessions on:
- Metathesis Polymerization
- Cationic Late-metal Catalysis
- Metallocene Polyolefin Catalysts
- Chemistry and Applications of PEN
- Optoelectronic Polymers
led by industrial and academic scientists supplemented by a poster session to allow for presentations of current research findings by other meeting participants.
Complementing the above theme, the Division will also host the Herman F. Mark Award Symposium honoring the 1996 awardee, Professor James E. McGrath of the Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University.

The 1996 Biennial will be held at the Red Lion Resort in Santa Barbara, California. This resort and conference facility is located on the beach approximately one half mile from downtown Santa Barbara.
The Biennial registration fee is $550 per participant ($275 for students) and $175 per non-participating guest. The fee includes continental breakfast (3 days), conference materials, reception, coffee breaks, one lunch and a banquet.
