Re:        Symposium on "Polymeric Nanofibers" at the 226th ACS National

Dear Colleague:

Now is the time to make plans to be a part of the Symposium on "Polymeric 
Nanofibers" at the 226th ACS National Meeting in New York City, September 7-11, 
2003. The deadline for submissions is May 2, 2003. The symposium is co-sponsored 
by the Fiber Society. See their web site at: <http://fs.tx.ncsu.edu/>.

I invite you to present a talk or poster in the Symposium on "Polymeric 
Nanofibers" that Dr. Hao Fong <hao.fong@nist.gov> and I are arranging for the 
Division of Polymer Chemistry. The central focus of the symposium will be 
polymeric nanofibers made by electrospinning. We are making a very broad 
interpretation of the title, and nanofibers of most substances made by most 
methods will be appropriate. Papers on uses of nanofibers, surface modification, 
and process modeling are also appropriate. Please call this Symposium to the 
attention of anyone who is interested in nanofibers. All registered ACS members or 
non-members are welcome to attend the Symposium. 

The Online Abstract Submission System (OASYS) can be found on the ACS website at 
www.chemistry.org <http://www.chemistry.org>. Click on "National Meetings," and 
then click on "Abstract Info." This will lead you to detailed instructions for 
submission of a 150-word abstract and a two-page polymer preprint. Both the 
abstract and the preprint are required. Your "Polymer Preprint" will become a part 
of the archival literature abstracted by Chemical Abstracts Service. It is 
essential for you to submit your Abstract and Preprint directly through OASYS. Hao 
Fong and I will find your abstracts there and will arrange the sessions and

If you want to submit a paper for inclusion in a book that will be part of the ACS 
Symposium Series, please tell me at your earliest convenience. Full-length 
manuscripts for review will be due September 7th, the date of the meeting. If the 
usual ACS policies regarding the numbers of papers submitted, length, and quality 
are satisfied, we will edit such a book, which would be published between March 
and September of 2004.
