Since the Pacific Polymer Federation was established in 1987, the biennial Pacific Polymer Conference has been successfully celebrated on 6 occasions; Maui, USA(1989), Otsu, Japan(1991), Gold Coast Australia (1993), Kauai, USA(1995), Kyongju, Korea (1997) and Guangzhou, China (1999). The Federation is now composed of 17 member organizations from Pacific Basin countries.
In 2001, the Pacific Polymer Conference will be held for the first time on the Latin American soil, in the unique City of Oaxaca, MÈxico, where the culture is totally different from that of Asia and the USA. The activity in polymer science and engineering in Latin American nations is steadily inceasing, and the 7th PPC will provide an interesting and unique opportunity of mixing different cultures and experiences in polymer science and technology. .
We, the Organizing Committee of the PPC'7, welcome all of you to participate in this event which will include people from not only from the PPF member nations, but also from many other countries.

Accomodation
Hotels in Oaxaca City range in price from US$30.00 to $100.00 per night for single or 2 persons. Details information and reservation from will be provided on the website. Hotel "Mission de Los Angeles" and "Holiday Inn Express" were chosen as venue hotels. Hotel "Camino Real" which was built in the 16th century as monastery is also availble for those interested in sleeping in a very ancient room. Reservation should be made through InterMeeting which is the PPC-7 authorized agent for hotels and sight seeing.
Oaxaca City is located at southeast of Mexico City. There are several daily flights from Mexico City, which take about 50 minutes. It is recommended to arrive Mexico City in the morning if you wish to get to Oaxaca in the same day. Otherwise, you have to stay one night in Mexico City for a next day flight to Oaxaca. If you arrive Mexico City on Friday (Nov.30) we recommend to have Mexico City sight seeing (Teotihuacan Pyramids, Xochimilco, National Anthropology Museum, etc) for Saturday and Sunday. Arriving in the evening of Saturday (Dec.1) make it possible to have a sight seeing on Sunday. Sundays are the best days for moving around in and nearby Mexico City. Such sight seeing can be arranged.
Registration Fee
The registration fee for participants including entry to all scientific sessions, preprints, printed materials, reception, banquet, morning and afternoon tea/coffee. Banquet fee is not included in student registration.

An afternoon excursion to the famous pre-Columbian Monte Alban ruin will be arranged. Other ruins such as Mitla and others will be programmed for the accompanying persons. A weekend excursion to Huatulco, a Pacific coast resort less than a half hour flight from Oaxaca City may be arranged. The price will be around $250 per person including air transportation and 2 night hotel room in the Sheraton Huatulco.
