The purpose is to prepare young chemists to present their research in a short video/movie format and interact with a broad range of audiences, including more senior scientists and the general public. With this award POLY wishes to help develop the communication skills of young scientists, while simultaneously increasing their investment in the success of ACS and POLY.

The award was presented at the ACS National Meeting, Boston, MA, POLY/PMSE Awards Reception, Wednesday August 19th, at 5:30pm (Grand Ballroom A/B).
ALL video submissions were played on a plasma screen during the Fall ACS meeting on Wednesday, in the POLY session . They were also be posted on the POLY web page and Facebook in the coming months. This was not an easy selection as video’s EXCEEDED expectations this summer.
POLY would like to welcome non-winners to re-submit their video for one-time reconsideration next spring. An updated spring deadlines will be posted online at http://www.polyacs.org/1099.html in the coming months.

During the Fall ACS National Meeting, the submitted videos were evaluated and critiqued by the POLY Video Awards Subcommittee and two winners were selected. The winners were announced at the POLY’s Awards Reception at the ACS National Meeting. Awardees received a
$250 prize. Videos from all of the finalists were shown during the POLY’s Awards Reception and will be made available to others via POLY’s webpage, and other social media accounts.
